Back from Ottawa. This was my first real time to Ottawa. The drive there took an extra 2 hours due to an accident and all that comes with an accident. I hate crappy traffic with a passion. Arrived in Ottawa and Andréa gave us a quick tour of the local area (the market, parliament hill, the canal) Then we gorged ourselves on Fudgeos and chips while we pre-drank on their kick ass stoop/patio. We eventually took our drunk asses to The Heart and Crown. It was awesome, nice and big, a fun band that played things from Eminem to David Gray! Plenty of patios in the same bar too. Our waiter was fun and played with us, which includes patting down a wet Krista, rubbing my head, allowing Andréa to steal his aviators and more. Jess and Mike came out too as did Anne. It was enjoyable to see these kids. Some Uxbridge kids showed up later. None of them I really knew but they were more there to see Krista and Jessica.
The following day, Andréa and I did a tour of Parliament. We had this one group of people in our tour group that kept asking questions related to how much work the MP's did! I learnt the building burnt down in 1912! Hahaha, I know little about Canadian history. We then joined Krista and Jessica and found Krista's roomate Noami spouting off information about our Governor-General. We arranged to go for dinner with Noami later on. Off we went across the bridge to K-beck and the Museum of Civilizaltion, where we saw bog people from thousands of years ago. By now, we were all tired and our feet ached. Back home for rest then back out for dinner. Since dinner took forever, as soon as we got back home, we pre-drank right away (Anne joined us again). We checked out the gay bar, along with Krista's cousin and her straight roomate. it was dead there, apparently because it was Montreal Pride. It was a drag show too, so we didn't get much dancing of our own in. Andréa tried her best to hook me up with an Austrlian named Alex. He was definately fun and enjoyable but was rather distraught as his boyfriend ended up going home with someone else. Silly Australian, didn't he realize he should have gotten even? :P We ended up making good friends with Alfredo, our bartender. We got some free shots with him. We stayed right until they locked the bar up and went for breakfast (at a Mel's wannabe diner) with Alfredo, some other bartenders, a scary older guy, and a drag queen. RANDOM. But we all recall that random = good and sketchy = bad. We eventually made it home to get a few hours of sleep. It was then back to Uxbridge. Traffic on the way home was pretty decent, had to deal with cottage country/long weekend travellers but it wasn't too bad.
That my freinds was Ottawa.
