I just saw something distrubing on TV. It was Kurt Nilsen, World Idol winner, and his video for "She's so High." He did a good job singing, (still not as good as Tal Bachman) but the video - well it just further enforces why he had to win an Idol competition to become well-known. What's irriating is that the MuchMoreMusic Top 10 (yes I watch it) consistently has at least 3 if not 4 songs by idol winners or participants!
I complain yet I am fully watching American Idol at 8.

The countdown at work has begun: 22 days left, or maybe 15. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed. Still need a new job though for May 1 though.

Weekend was some kick-ass fun. Although the circle jerk party with Matt didn't work out as planned, I still enjoyed myself. Friday = a nice realxing night in with Sharon and Perry. Saturday = Residence The Price is Right (at Fed Hall), it was very cool. Then a GREAT night of dancing at Ren. I really didn't think I could get any sweatier than I did at Buddys last year for Pride but Saturday night I had a river going down my back. Sexy? No - no more long sleeve shirts! Sunday = BBQ. That's all I need to say.

What is a boy to do? My contract at work is not going to be extended to the end of June like I had hoped. I totally understand, they need to get someone on a more permanent basis (a full-year contract) and having me stay for 2 months would totally mess it up. Luckily my savings will be where they need to be for moving to England in September. I just want to have some money for the summer to be able to enjoy it. It looks like no Cancun for me. Other problem being I am semi-subletted a room for those 2 months - and really though, where is the best place for me to find some money? Working here in Waterloo or home in Uxbridge? Hmpf.

Damn Will and Grace (or actually Jack and Karen) for giving away how Sex and the City ends tomorrow night! They didn't even give us Canadians a warning such details would be so casually revealed, nor did we have a chance to run away from the TV when they staretd talking about it. Arrrr.

I'm trying to grow my hair back but it's very frustrating. I am at the point where it looks like a fuzz ball, so I'll often throw a hat on in an attempt to flatten it. Sometimes this works, other times it leaves me looking like I have bed head (which is difficult look to achieve with minimal hair).
I really want to shave it down again but know I will be rewarded in a few weeks, or so I hope!!!

My current debate about England is what piece of electronics would I prefer to have with me while traveling - a digital camera or an .mp3 player? Right now I am leaning towards a digital camera, more important to come back with pictures from all the wonders I will see.

Great Sunday! After spending the morning with Johnny, I biked home under the glorious sun. Then Ali called me and invited me to head to Old Navy with her, where I ran into Joel for brief chat. Ali then "dragged" me into La Vie en Rose or whatever that underwear store is. Good news for me - 50% off most of the men's undies! I was intrigued by the "push-up thong for men" but opted to not open the package - as I was slightly intimidated. Heading back into Waterloo, we stopped by East Sides in hopes Johnny could serve us food but he was long since cut. Following food, we headed to Chapters and I bought my "Europe journal." I also scoped out potential book club books - yes, book club will continue in the summer for at least 2 months! Once home, I got to watch the penultimate episode of Sex and the City as well as the cutesy farewell episode. I don't fare well with the end of TV shows, good thing I don't watch too much anymore. Some laundry and room tidying was also accomplished!

This sounds like a fun event. Complete with games you play standing up, sitting down, and other games. This Drake Hotel intrigues me.

Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Please see a screen cap of the email.

I have accepted the position in England for September (to April). I just have to sign the contract! In order to help save money for this adventure, I'm going to try and extend my current contract with UW until the end of June despite my urge to get out of Waterloo. Ideally, my finances may be balanced out well engough I can join in on the trip to Cancun at the end of April. I am very excited.

Straight boys suck. Thank goodness my boy ain't that way. Mwah.

Saturday, March 13, 2004

Well I have somewhat big news - kind of hesitant to post about it on here because then I am sure it will fall through or something. I have been offered a position at Queens University's International Study Centre in England. The position is called Student Life Coordinator and it's basically like a resident advisor position combined with being an activities director. The woman who hired me explained it as a much more intense donning job - it's all you do. You're not a student, you can't take on a part-time job and you're expected to be on call 24/7 (except on your days off). The experience sounds terrific, everyone I know who went to school there has loved it. The only thing about this job is that you don't get paid - instead you are given room, board, and travel expenses when going on field studies. So I'd basically be spending my own money for when traveling on my own around Europe and other misc. things. Originally I was very hesitant about accepting, because of the money issue - but really this opportunity sounds too good to miss out on. So long as it doesn't put me in debt, I shouldn't care as I have been itching to travel for awhile now.
The thing that has really hit me hardest about this is that it's really emphasizing the split from everyone as we all graduate. It just really makes it feel like people are going everywhere.
This is still not 100% official but I did want to share with everyone - however the only thing that's stopping me from going is myself. Cheers.

Currently, my efforts are going towards trying to resolve an eBay situation. I sucessfully bid on my first item (Clue VCR game) and made the payment using PayPal. Unfortunately for me, the seller has turned sour and has not sent the item nor has she replied to any of the 5 emails I have sent. I also phoned her (after getting her contact info from eBay) but it's not the correct number. I have now filed for some weird thing through PayPal and they are making their "best effort" to retreive my money. I wonder what "best effort" means. I just hope they're honest about that and not just automatically denying everyone like insurance companies.

Highlight of the weekend: Being recognized for my appearance on Fairy Tale when out at the bar.

Friday, March 05, 2004

Tonight will be the first showing of my appearance on Fairy Tale. If you would like to watch it, come over to our house at 10pm. As we watch the crazy adventure, we'll be drinking - although no promises I won't already be blurry eyed by the time we start watching me make a fool of myself on a date.
Later in the night, we'll head down to Ren and dance in style.

Surreal experience: interviewing people for don positions with Carolyn (my past don). Who would have thought? Thank God none of the people I interviewed (the whole two of them) wore jeans.

UW Shop is having a blowout sale in the SLC today and tomorrow. Great deal on the clothes but an even better deal on the books in my opinion. I snagged Douglas Coupland's "All Families Are Psychotic" for only $7.99 - when normally it's $20ish at Chapters. This book was the other potential book in place of Palahniuk's "Invisible Monsters" for book club. It lost out because it's longer. I definately will keep up with buying and reading a new book each month, regarldess of what happens to book club.
