As if I let my blog go to hell by not posting since Tuesday. I guess my life really isn't super exciting that I have much to report about what is happening. Altough we did have a blast on Wednesday for Jessica's birthday. We did some predrinking at Mel & Jess's then headed to the last Bomber Wednesday of the term at 9:30pm. Umm, yeah we were there FAR too early so we booted to my place for another round of pre-drinks. It was definately some good times. What I enjoy about going out in a group, is that even though you'll go in a group and occasionaly actually be with all your group members, for the most part you end up spending the evening with one other partner from the group. On Wednesday, my partner was Andréa. I am going to miss that little girl when she's in Ottawa next term but I also can't wait for reading week! I actually have somewhere to go and people to see!

I hate to be mean and cut up people who act differently than I do but I am going to just retell this story for what it's worth. This is an account of the girl beside me in the computer lab (please note a computer lab is not my ideal hangout but my room has lost the net again, blah)
There is a Chinese girl sitting, er standing beside me. During the time I have been reading my emails, 3 different males have snuck up behind her to say hi. At each occurance, just before turning around to talk to them, she stuffed food in her mouth. Upon turning to face her "surprise" visitors, she covered her mouth to not be rude and talk with her mouth full. The males each quickly disperesed. Now it is just me and her and she is gnawing away good at her cup. It is almost ripped to shreds in fact. I fully thought she must have been chewing on this cup for 2 hours but apparently it can't have been that long because she just put it down and it's 90/100 full still. So either she is a super fast cup chewer or a super slow drinker. WHOOAA - now she is diving into the fingernail chewing category! I gots to go!

I became a model last night. For those of you who have been to Health Services here at the University of Waterloo, have you ever seen a really old 80's photo of 8 people lying in a bed with a caption something like "When you sleep with your partner, you sleep with all thier partners too." Well, it is being updated for the new millenium! And well I am sure you pieced it together and figured out I am one of the 8 people lying in the bed. I got to lie beside Meera and Shanez in the different set-ups, that's all I need to say (sorry if you don't know these girls or anyhing about their physical attributes).

The Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii. Watching people compete in this battle is so amazing to me. When I say compete, I refer to the competition between each individual racer and the grueling triathlon itself. For the most part, the people are not out there to win, they are there to prove it to themselves that they can do it. NBC does this amazing job of editing in the stories of some of the competitors with the race footage. It honestly feels like you are watching some type of movie. I can't even imagine the feelings of these people as they cross that finish line. I can only hope that one day I will have a goal that I will strive so hard for and upon it's completion I will experience emotions I never knew existed. Can you imagine spending 17 hours doing nothing but physically exerted yourself on the hot roads of Hawaii???

Irked is such a great word. I am excited about the word - I enjoy it. It just really sucks to be irked. I got my stats midterm back and instead of rocking it like I thought - it rocked me. So I am being proactive and going in to check what I did wrong (apparently everything) so I can correct my ways before the final. Goodbye honours? I hope not.
I am also irked by my residents. I will assume they don't read this blog and can safely say 'what the hell?' I know more than what they think I do about what's happening in the house. Yes I may not know everything but when I do know something, don't lie to me about it, that just irks me. An irked Adam = an Adam who will fine.

Nic and I had a debate about blogs last night. He thinks it's pathetic that some people use it as a method to keep track about what's going on in their friends lives. I, however think it's a great tool for just that. Yes I agree it is sad that I can't talk to my friends as much as I would like to and thus resort to this blog and reading any blogs I can find. But that's the way things are for the time being. I sincerly hope that I will be able to one day communicate with my friends via some form of real life opposed to this cyber life we all live.

Yesterday was cheap night at the movies and even cheaper night if you venture to King's College theatre downtown. Andréa, Christine, Nic and I did just that to go see 8 Mile. Little did we know we would be traveling into Shantytown. I really wish I had been wearing my tattered hoodie, woolen mitts, and a white stained wife beater. I would have fit in much better with the crowd. The movie itself was ok, nothing spectacular. Blah.
Afterwords Nic and I watched 24 which I had taped. I can feel the potential growing and it made me move when Nina Myers little face made a return, even though it was just a photograph. We had predicted as much.

I am thinking about applying to write a weekly opinion column for the Imprint for next term. My column would be about educating those who are uneducated in what's happening in the real world. I myself read various things written in the Imprint and have no idea about some of the refernces made in the articles. I have yet to been able to make it through an Aaron Lee-Wudrick article. When listening to my friends speak I sometimes must resort to simply nodding in agreement when they use various terms I am unfamiliar with. My only concern with this is would I really have the time to write an article a week?

I hate when music videos are more so designed simply to be stylish or trendy. They are meant to aid in the telling of the story presented in the song. Except for pop songs, thier videos are meant to showcase the dancing abilities and sex appeal of thier "artists."
One of my favourite videos of all time is "Before You" by Chantal Kreviazuk and now with a new song out by her that I absolutely adore I was hoping for one killer video. It was a little lacking unfortunately, it only got good when Chantal and her love intrest jumped into the pool. It was a little hard to believe however because it wasn't Raine Maida. Blah.

Why does the gay community have to be so small? It can be quite stressful some times. But it also makes things very intresting. There were a total of 9 gay boys at bomber last night who I knew were all linked somehow. I was a tad nervous because Michael, the guy who Aaron was sort of dating before we got back together was there. I had never met him yet and one in my situation can't help but only feel slightly quilty. Luckily, he is a fun guy and I enjoyed what interactions we had.
Last night at Bomber was highly enjoyable, many people there, many drinks consumed, and many songs danced to. North Quad of V1 were 5/6 present, our only missing member was the duty don so that is acceptable. Not only were there a large number of dons there, there was also a large number of my friends there. Aaron and I finally got to really hang out with DavidCarey. Silly boy, he thought spitting in his drink before having me hold it while he ran to the bathroom would prevent me from having a few sips. Um hello, definately not when it's an ameretto y coké.
I stayed until the bitter end, then the dons moved the party into the SLC where there were bodychecks, wrestling, and just plain out ridic times. The Northers booted it back for pizza, thank goodness there were no residents up when we arrived. The most intresting sight is a pizza slice with no toppings on it, no cheese, and no sauce. Let me tell ya, it doesn't taste very good, even with the dipping sauce.

So within the past 3 days I have done some major shopping, but at the same time not really. I don't even have the money to be shopping for me but in searching for toques I keep happening upon deals I can't afford to pass up on. On Saturday, while at the Gap in Conestoga, I found a pair of jeans that fit me like no other pair has fit me and the real beauty of them was that they only cost $19.99 (normally $64) then I found a turtleneck sweater, and it was only $19.99 too! So with tax these two purchases came to $45 when normally just one of those items would be that before tax! Today when I went searching for toques in Fairview, I found another amazing deal at The Gap sale rack. I kick ass shirt for $3.99...that's right...three, ninety-nine! Normal price was $44. Ridic! This shirt is great, my only concern is it's kind of army-ish which is an intresting combo with my new hair/head.

Someone from the grade ahead of me in high school recently passed away. I didn't know her that well but knew what she was like. Last year around this time, someone else from that same graduating class passed away. I didn't know him very much at all and thus with this most recent unfortunatate event, I am hit by it differently than last year. It's making me reflect far more than I did previously. It upsets me that I am not in touch with those people who I want to be as much as I would like. It's even harder when you are close to some people but at the same time feel very distant from them.
A very good friend of mine is of the mindset that it's inevitable you'll grow distant from those who were once close to you, so she makes very little effort to keep in touch. However, I fully disagree with that mindset. I think the distance is however far you make it. If you make an effort, it won't even feel like there is any seperation.

Now I have some major credit to give to my residents. Last night was dress your don for fed hall - if you can raise money for charity. When setting my limits I remembered that in first year as much as we wanted to see Carolyn decked out in the worst clothes possible, we did not raise a single penny. I also underestimated my residents. At literally the last moment they showed up with about $105. They hit my highest level which meant they could do anything to my hair...and they did. A pair of scissors was taken to my head and I lost many a piece of hair. I looked hideous, it looked like I was sick and pieces of my hair had fallen out. So today I had very little options on how to salvage what hair I did have. I took out the razor and brought my hair down to the shorest it has ever been, a mere 3mm! I am so glad I didn't have to use my actual razor blade and remove it all. I also must admit at this point, it looks good. I am enjoying it - and so are the people who like to rub my head.
At least I am mullet free!

Ok, fine - credit is to be given to Mark Brunnett once again. Orginally I was not into this whole 2 tribes on one beach deal but he defiantely knows what he's doing. Next smart move: to select me as the first Canadian contestant!

I got a great email from my mom earlier today. There is a quick background story I will condense for you: 1) When I lived at home for the summer between first year and second year, so 2000, I lived in the basement and in the celling was an infestation of mice. We caught about 10 in 3 days once we set up traps. 2) After the mice were gone, I could still hear something, a larger animal. I hypothesised a weasel. 3) This creature was never caught 4) Early in the year 2001, the creature decided to chew threw a water pipe and flooded our nice basement. 5) Earlier in this year, 2002, the creature has now chewed a hole into the cupboard under the kitchen sink so it can access our garbage. 6) Under the sink, it punctured a container of olive oil which then splattered all over the basement walls as my dad removed the celling in hopes of catching it. That bring you up to speed. Yes, my parents have not made any real attempts to catch it over the past two years except for buying a jumbo sized mousetrap. So, apparently the other day my mom was washing dishes and heard the creature in the cupboard - so she opens the cupboard doors and apparently as bold as ever there sat a humogous rat starring back at her. Oh that evokes such an image in my head. I see it growling at her. Anyway, she ran out to Canadian Tire and bought a stick rat trap. Set it up, and the next morning, there the creature was, stuck to the pad - along with a little mouse. I don't know if they thought to take a picture of my arch nemesis, I can only hope. So, how do they dispose of it? Oh my goodness. My dad took it out to the garage and BE-HEADED it!!!! That's right, chopped it's head right off! Great job, dad! Please say there are pictures - or you kept the head as a trophy.

I LOVE COLLEEN KIRBY! Words can't even describe this precious blonde girl. I got my first letter from her today, she's currently in Spain for a whole freaking year! I told her I would come and visit if I won the lottery - so she mailed me a lottery ticket! Ridic! As if she took an Ontario lottery ticket with her to Spain to send it back to me. (I am going to assume it was pre-planned on her part.) Crossing my fingers as I prepare to scratch.

So if I am going to quit spying, I am going to start up an underground secret club.

I feel like a spy when I read peoples blogs who I know and they don't know I'm reading it. Like I'm peeking into their personal life. It is a journal of sorts - but it's online. I said I was going to write on my blog under the assumption no one was reading and I will continue to do so. Yes you are invading my personal space but I am okay with that, I like to be open with my life. My spying ends tomorrow.

Again, I know I am looking good, thank-you to those who commented on my look today. Today's ensemble consisted of my freshly washed black turtlenek sweater with my green khaki cargo pants. Very different from yesterday's 50-styled white t-shirt and jeans. I am trying to think of a theme for tomorrow. I am contemplating a cross of preppy and grunge. I would accomplish that with a button up collar shirt underneath my North A hoodie - for those who don't know my hoodie has a nice tear on the left arm. It made me cry when it happened. I'll be clean shaved tomorrow too, so that is a factor in the look (goes against this preppy/grunge theme).

SO freakin' excited. I did my first print out using my arts account on campus. It was one of those tasks that has been eluding me forever. Finally - I can do work on campus. Now I am excited about stats! Yeah for stats!

Yippy! The new Kylie Minogue single and video have been released today! New song, Come Into My World, is enjoyable - a bit slower of a dance song but the video is goood. Starts off kind of slow but my the time the third Kylie is introduced you will be amazed, or at least you should be. Meera - you will want to be boycotting it however.
Other news of the day - got my SOC 101 midterm back. I didn't do an ounce of studying for it and I got a 71! I do have 4 days prior to the final where I will have nothing else to do so I may do some studying that time around - hey, if I can get a 90 on the final that means an overall 80 for the course.
P.S. I knew I was looking sexy today but not THAT sexy. ( I am not a conceited bastard please bear in mind)

Simpsons was a tad off tonight. I suppose it's been slowly losing it's edge over the past couple of years but the Halloween episode is usually reliable, with the exception of tonight.
I have lucked out, Princess Cinema is bringing back a movie I missed seeing. It's got Ryan Gosling (Sean from Breaker High) in it. It's called The Believer. Only playing for 2 days so I am making a point of seeing it. Spiritied Away, apparently some great Japanesse animated film, is also playing so I will get to see it too! School? Naw, film please.

Now that I'm back on Matt's friend list, and at the top of it, my readership just might increase. So I'd like to welcome any stragglers who have made their way here via Matt. I hope you enjoy.
If you find my blog boring, don't read it - as opposed to sending me hate email. Thanks!

Have I accomplished anything today? It feels as though I have yet at the same time it feels as though it's been a waste of a day. I got caught up on some TV watching, did MAJOR laundry. Unfortuantely, my laundry resulted in a sweater growing to twice the size of me and possibly becoming a hand-me-up to my dad.
I really need to get cracking on a small assignment due Monday as tomorrow is Slacker Sunday. Am I allowed to have a Slacker Saturday and a Slacker Sunday on the same weekend?

Friday, November 01, 2002

Today's Friday? I am confused. It's definitely feeling like an extenda-weekend. I love them! No major plans but to just relax, do school work leisurely so it's not done in panic fashion later on.
Hallowe'en festivities last night at Fed were extremely enjoyable. We were great. Aaron came up with a fun game for us to play at Fed Hall as well - we each had ribbon that matched our characters and we had to go around and "kill" patrons at Fed Hall. Things got ridiculous when we prided ourselves in killing those in competition against us for the best costume contest. Despite the greatness of our costumes, we didn't win the contest but we did come 3rd! What kind of prizes does a third place team win? Four Labatt Blue t-shirts, a hat, a mug AND $20. What did we do with our $20 at 1:30 in the morning? Oh we all did 2 shots (Liquid Cocaine and a B52) - that was not a good combo. But hello, IT'S HALLOWEEN.
