I love Hallowe'en. Such good times. I love seeing people's creativity shine through. Last night at Bomber was ok but tonight is the real party. I was a proctologist yesterday and currently am that today. However, at dinner I will be transforming into Prof Plum (from Clue) . we have the whole cast of characters, almost a mini-version pride flag. For those of you wondering how I'm conveying that I am a proctologist (ass doctor) - I have a lab coat on with chocolate smeared across the front. I also have a stetoscope and a name tag that reads "Dr. Ben Dover." Last night I kept some chocolate pudding in my pocket and dipped my latex gloved finger into it now and again, brought it out and ate it. I think that was a bit too much.
I am a little worried though as this is Meera's lab coat and she never washes it - so it is covered in chemicals and microbacteria. I hope I dont get the flesh-eating disease, altough it would be one hell of a costume.

Another great episode of Lucy and the crew. Kuddos to Fred and Ethel! Perhaps I should have spent that half hour studying for the midterm I am worried about, but life is too short.Do I use too many superlatives?

Falling in love with an old classic.
For the past few days at lunch I have been enjoying old reruns of "I Love Lucy." Today's episode involved a miscommunication, Lucy being sneaky, an assumption, and an ironic solution. It is very nice though to look back at this sitcom from the past as it's a good break from the humor in today's sitcoms. Intrestingly, I think "I Love Lucy" has some very similar qualities to "Will & Grace." Check it out.

Do I like the fact that we gain an hour of sleep because of Daylight Savings (is that something that should be capitalized?) or do I despise it because it gets dark at 5pm? I have finally come to a conclusion on the debate. I love setting our clocks back! That extra hour is great to have as a student, and although it does suck that it gets dark earlier, I just remind myself that when we set our clocks forward the evenings are longer!!!
So, even though I had 3 midterms in 3 days last week, I am more worried about the one midterm I have this week. It's physiological psych and it's about the way our brain functions. I am definately worried about it. I didn't even take grade 11 biology. Thank goodness I do have a fairly good memory - too bad I can't understand why my brain allows me to remeber stuff. (if you get it, congratulations, if you didn't then you should have been a blow job)

Tonight: Headed to a haunted hay ride with 6 other dons. It brought back old memories of working at Magic Hil where I failed miserably as the mysterious grim reaper and achieved mild sucess as a gravedigger. Hey, I didn't say the memories of working there were enjoyable. Janna, one of my north girls, was easily spooked, which made it all that more enjoyable. At one point during the ride, we had to get off the tractor and walk through the dark haunted woods and the corn fields. That was definately the scariest part - too bad it was so short. We had some run-ins: with linecutters (what are linecutters?) and we got Sk8ter Boi stuck in our heads.
Heath and I did a minor version of the amazing race. We got back in Waterloo at 10:10pm and we were both duty dons for our respective north quads. But we wanted to see some of our friends at Weavers briefly. So we booted it there to learn that it was closed for a private function. Likely we found a route marker - the girls had written on the sign annocuing the private function. They wrote "Lauren and Heather and crew went to Bomber." So we followed their tracks, spent some time there then I ran home to eb here for 11pm, only 1 hour past the start of my "duty don shift".

Today: Went paintballing with 53 residents and 2 other dons. Wasn't really into it today but did enjoy myself. I have such bad aim. So after an early morning, a full day with one packed bus ride, a shower before dinner felt simply amazing. As I wasn't really into it, I'm not really into blogging about it. No battle wounds like last time.

Last Night: Aaron and I enjoyed our first real date since we've been back together. A relaxing dinner at Kelsey's, a quick shopping trip, and then we took in a show (aka a movie). Can I just say HIGH SCHOOL? The movie theatre was basically en extension of high school. It was packed with teenagers gossiping and just generally hanging out. We had one couple fully making out in the corner and learnt that Susie and Brad...well you know. Aaron was recently tested for mono - so there was to be no kissing. It was too hard, he was so t-riffic looking and we did have such a great date. Hmmmm....

Forgot to mention - Andréa and I also enjoyed THE best episode of Will & Grace tonight. It was the old re-run shown at 7:30, for those who know the show well it was the one in which Jack and Grace went to his sons school dance and Jack did his rendition of Pop by Nsync. GREAT! I'll be over after I've made a gun from cheese.

Andréa and I just got back from a wondeful french flick at the Princess Cinema. The place was packed with UW's French club and it smelt of my grandmothers perfume (that is a good thing). Even though I was one of the few people reading the subtitles, I was definately letting out some good laughs - Stephen Woods would be proud. The movie we took in was called 8 Femmers (8 Women) and it was a classic murder mystrey, complete with random musical interludes. I have nothing but good things to say about that movie, and Catherine Denevue. I know not many of you will go see it, but if you do get the chance - things I found enjoyable that you should think about as you watch the movie: a) who put the bun in the oven? b) why did Mamy have to be a closet case? c) oh, is that what you call "just chatting with Aunt Pierette"???
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT

oh my gawwwwwd. Mix of emotions over that hour in which I watched Amazing Race. The first half hour was enjoyable as it could be - but I noticed that during the opening credits there was a brief info with host Phil saying "Which team will be eliminated tonight?" and a quick clip of all teams was shown EXCEPT Aaron and Arianne. I knew right then they would be the team eliminated. Anyway, so half way through the show, all teams are on the train. I get a phone call to do a lockout because there are ZERO North Quad dons around. Thus, I had to go and miss the transition period. I return and Aaron/Arianne are battling it out with Ian/Teri on the soccer field for last place. Ridic! Then it was down to Kathy/Michael vs A/A. As soon as Kathy/Michael came in, I threw my keys across the living room. I scared Janna, who I previously scared for not being being around to do the lockout. Luckily though, Heather and Eve made a real mistake and were the team eliminated. Although I enjoyed them tremendously I far prefer Aaron (and I suppose Arianne too)
Phew, but Teri/Ian and Andre/Damon need to go - I prefer so many others.

If you are not watching Amazing Race 3 right now - you should be. I have no comment other than WOW. I hate what reality television does to me. Actually I really do love it. It has barely even started and I have tears ready for the losing team (unless it's someone crappy - but I fear it will be one of my favorites. Lord help them).

Wow - midterm for SOC 101 felt soooo good since I have not cracked open the book, gone to many lectures, or taken that many notes yet I know I will be passing. Some may wonder why I'm paying whatever it is I am paying for a course that doesn't interest me. Well, you see my schedule really doesn't allow for me take a course I would actually enjoy taking: I needed a nice simple bird course to not jeopardize my work in the other required courses. How people do double majors is beyond me.
Tonight begins my don evaluation - not sure how my residents will rate my performance, they seem happy, but are they really? I'm going to serve up some sundaes first cause free snacks are always a good thing.

With me being sick and feeling sorry for myself today, I have spent ample time surfing the net and am really appreciating this bloging world. I spent some time reading some friends blogs and it's such a good way to get caught up on thier lifes - ahhh the joys of not actually talking to your friends. So my next attempt is to link up on the right to blogs I read. Study? Ummm, no thanks.

I hate hate hate being sick. I think this is the result of eating that gross Oktoberfest sausage last night. All I want to do is vomit everywhere. What is you're supposed to drink back to enduce vomitting? Someone please buy me a gallon of it. I think I'm going to skip classes today - I don't know that I would be able to concentrate on the lessons. This doesn't help this is my hell week coming up. Luckily I have someone coming to take care of me this afternoon!
I am such a big baby when I'm sick!

There are two effects from not doing much work for the first month of school. a) you haven't done any of the readings for your midterms and b) you're used to a lifestyle that does not include schoolwork.
I never really considered this b effect but it definitely is what is plaguing me right now. I have already determined I will not be reading for SOC101. We did practice questions last class and I got 8 out of 10. I think it's because after 3 years of multiple-choice tests I can manage to deduce the correct answer. The mid-term is also spilt into half - we do 50 questions on Tuesday and then 50 more on Thursday. So if Tuesday goes poorly, then I suppose I will suck it up and do some reading Wednesday night.

Then there is PSYCH 211 (developmental), rrrrrrrr, so much reading. I am determined to make sure I am caught up for that one but assignments and quizzes will definitely eat away at that. Of course fate would have it that the week Aaron and I get back together, I would have little to no time to spend with him - but I will make it up to him when we go for dinner on Friday.

P.S. It's weird writing about people when you know they'll be reading your blog. So I will start assuming no one is reading this and write freely.

The past 24 hours have been a whirlwind of activity. It began with plans to hit up Frequency - a new gay bar in Kitchener (and ridiculously close to Ren). Predrinking activity took place at my place with Aaron (the ex), Chris (another don), and Nic (the best friend). We left our favorite fag hags (a.k.a. Fairy Princesses) at home as this was the first official boys night at the new locale and we didn't want them to cramp our style. We headed up the two flights of stairs and marveled at the new age bar. We also marveled at the lack of bodies. Turns out the grand opening is tonight. Well we proceeded to have some fun dancing before finally taking that 30 second walk to Ren. I must say that Ren just felt good. We danced up a storm while Aaron and Nic proceeded to get soaking wet, literally.
Staying right till close, we managed to make it out just in time before Aaron got into it with a Justin Guarani look-a-like. Kudos to our cabbies for the night Jim (or Daisy) and Al. Finally at home, after a mildly drunk Janna and her friend stopped by, Aaron and I were left alone to have a talk about things. We've been broken up for over a month now but due to the nights events (and us thoroughly enjoying each other) we talked about getting back together - we stayed up until 6am, got three hours of sleep, and then got back to the talking. A decision was reached - for us to give our relationship a third go at it (we see the potential in each other)
We parted ways as I brought myself to work (working 12 hours, 2pm to 2am, ouch) and Aaron set off to let the guy he has been a few dates with that he could no longer pursue a romantic relationship with him as we were going to work on things ourselves. That's all Stan!

To blog or not to blog? Not really a philosophical question but one of necessity nowadays. Leaving a piece of me for others to marvel upon - and marvel you will! Some quick background info: this is my second attempt at blogging - I forget my other username and password, starting from scratch we go!
It is my one-day goal to travel out to Hawaii, specifically the island of Kauai, where I will fall in love with my new surroundings and just decide to relocate there permanently! For now, I live the life of a psychology student at the University of Waterloo. I'm playing catch-up to complete my degree sooner rather than later - if all goes according to plan that will be at the end of August next year. I keep myself busy as a don in Village 1 and working at the front desk of Ron Edyt Village.
