It was off to the races yesterday for Johnny and I. We decided it was too beautiful a day to spend indoors and since I was on my 15-minute leash, we couldn't stretch too far and settled on going to Woodbine Track & Slots. I haven't been since I was young and went with my family when I would wager $2 on any horse with the name Ruckus in it. It's been cleaned up so nicely and was really alot of fun, we ended up not needing to bet to have a good time (although it was hard to resist not putting down a little something on Coloniel Ruckus - his odds were 31:1)
There are some horses we fear have now been turned into glue.

Last night I had my first trip to Hess Village in Hamilton. After making a stop at only one of the pubs, we then trekked to Embassy for random adventures of looking at the most ridiculous people we've seen in awhile. Big boobs and thongs were everywhere. I can't comment without being sick.

Bad acting all around in Eating Out starring Jim Verraros from American Idol fame. I should have expected as much from Jim. The whole movie he overtalked and also spoke out of the side of his mouth a la Jean Chretien. Maybe he did that on American Idol too, I dunno, but if his parents are deaf you think he'd have perfect mouth shapes when talking - but maybe I am just being sterotypically bitchy. There was one good scene, although it was the most unrealistic scene. In said scene the straight guy pretending to be gay gets a blow job from gay man while having phone sex with gay man's best fag hag. The gay man was played by the gay gardener on Desperate Housewives, for those who find him hot.
I cannot go on anymore.
And to be honest, I stopped watching after that scene - maybe it got better in the second half. I will save that for a rainy day.

Reasons I like "So You Think You Can Dance": Blake (in his suspenders), smiley Craig, and other hard-bodied boys, friends Melody and Nick, Mia Michels, Dan Karaty, Jessica, Snow and other fabulously dressed ladies, I could go on forever but I doubt anyone else is watching this show
Reasons I dislike SYTYCD (yes yes): Mary Murphy (although I love to hate her), the salsa teacher
Next week the top 16 start dancing for Americas votes, so it's a perfect opportunity to start watching. I wish I could dance.

Today was super stressful with lots of tasks to complete that are unrelated to the big project I'm really currently supposed to be working on. I'm sure these tasks wouldn't be so difficult if I was more familiar with the system here but that's all part of the learning curve I suppose.
After my super stressful day I came home and made a very tasty dinner and then sat down with a cup of tea afterwards and it was really relaxing and gave me a glimpse of what I'd like my worklife to be life - work hard and fast during the day and then come home and chill out.
My collegue Kris came by as well and we hung out. We've both decided that for us to survive here we need to start making some friends in Mississauga, so we're brainstorming ways to meet people. Our current front runner is to be super friendly and chatty at the gym (yes it looks like I'm joining a gym). Then eventually we'll host a dinner party for our "gym friends" with hopes for more outside of the gym.

I've just completed watching the first season of Nip/Tuck thanks to the week-long cheap deal on old discs from Blockbuster. I wasn't the biggest fan of it, probably due to the fact that all the main charactets want me to tear my hair out in frustration, I still have this desire to now watch the second season and then stay on top of it for the upcoming third season. Maybe I just need some time to figure out why I am drawn to the show despite all my irritations with it - I think I just have this hope the stupid characters will smarten up. Oh, and I can't figure out if their operations are more graphic and squeemish then what was on ER. There's definately more bare skin and hotter bodies though!

I felt so butch today as I walked through Canadian Tire browsing tools. After much consideration, I walked out with a hammer and screwdriver and let me just tell you I was strutting my stuff.
This butch feeling dissipated quickly when I next when to Shoppers Drug Mart and had their “beauty experts” rubbing various Biotherm Homme products all over my hands.
All-in-all, my first Saturday morning of running errands felt very grown-up.

The hunt is on for a local doctor and dentist. I can't recall the last time I had a regular doctor, unless you count Heatlh Services at UW. Ideally I will stay with them for a long time and they will keep healthy and looking young.

Was I away from Canada too long? I can't think of where it's common to buy DVD's? I can think of places like Future Shop, Best Buy, Chapters. But is there not a place that specializes in DVD's and what not for those hard-to-find discs?
Apparently my brain is turning to mush.
