I am in love with Clay Aiken's "This is the Night." He really should have sung this last on the finale and it may have helped him to win. Yes it's totally marketed for the Idol franchise but the lyrics are actually good times. I am looking forward to this as a single. See, I don't get why it matters at this point which one actually got the title of American Idol, both Clay and Reuben are getting record deals and the whole shang-bang. I guess it just means when they do "From Reuben to Clay," Reuben gets top billing?

My computer disk has somehow corrupted a file on it! It was a semi-important word document. Here I am trying to get ahead in schoolwork and working on this super borring paper and now I have lost the 40% of it that was done. Argh. I really wouldn't care too much if it were an ok project but it's all about analyzing your thought patterns while playing mastermind. Blah.

So today was the big presentation for my fourth years honors psych course. A little akward at first because it's tough to be in total control of the lecture and discussion. I am though totally glad we went first because now it's done and over and this course should be smooth sailing for remainder of term.
After class, Davidcarey, Jusleen and I did psych society office hours. We (plus Catherine) went to our first psych soc meeting and it turned out to be ok. I think we surprised them, "New people! wow" Anyway, they (and their) free pizza suckered us into office hours. We're going to change it into DVD watching hours. Today I watched my first offical Buffy episode. Fairly good! Hello Xander, cute name, cute eyebrows! Catherine joined us for Buffy! Yeahoo for anti-psych kids, we have infiltrated the system. Mwah ha ha!

Yeah, as I came up the steps to our house tonight I noticed a little brown thing on one of the stairs. Upon investigation I discovered it was a bat about the size of my palm. Knowing I am the only male in the house, I freak out because I don't want to be the one to deal with this bat. He's basically dying, shivering, you know, classic signs of death. He also likes to hiss at you if you get too close...he has cute fangs! So I got a quick video of him and then wanted for Sharon to get off the phone so we could call the Humane Society.
Tried calling Humane Society only to find they are closed for the evening, so I go back outside to see the bat and re-asses the situation. IT WAS GONE!!! I don't know how it possibly got away, it was so close to death. Now I am paranoid it's going to appear from nowhere and attack me. I really shouldn't have videotaped him.
Canada is looking at
Random post just to show I am following some current news. Oh, and apparently Ottawa got eliminated in the playoffs?

A warning to anyone I know, I have signed up for this study with Columbia University. It's investigating what they call the "Small World" phenomenon, but I prefer to think of it as the Six Degrees of Seperation thingy. Basically they email me very little information about a person and they I have to select someone I know who is hopefully closer connected to my target person. Then that person sends it on and so forth until the target person is reached. They want to see the averge number of people it passes through. So far I have started two chains both going to different targets in New York. My next target is in New Zealand.
So my warning to you is that if you get an email from me about this thing then know it's actually from me and not some weird virus. I plan on starting as many chains as I can. If you are interested in signing up on your own for this study, check it out here.

Yummmmm......how I love fresh Twizzlers strawberry "flavored candy." Interesting, just as I was looking at the package to learn how to spell licorice I discovered Twizzlers is going for name brand appeal apparently as the refer to their product as flavoured candy as opposed to licorice. But they've been around since 1929, you'd think they should own the term licorice.
Back on topic, this low fat snack is great. I am sure there is plenty of crap in it but not fat. I remember back in the day I could eat a whole $3.95 box from Price Club (pre Costco) in one 24 hour period.

So "All the Real Girls" wasn't very good. Although it was definately very realistic. Love story gone awry when woman cheats on her man. It goes downhill from there. I found my first visit to Ethel's Lounge to be the highlight of the night. I used to be sketched out by Ethels but it surprised me with it's look and nice patio. A most likely candidate for birthday pub crawl.
Got together today with some past dons for breakfast at Johnny Fiascos. It was great, we didn't talk about donning for once! None of us seem to be doing much this summer so we have all these grand ideas for BBQ's and fun times. Hopefully it'll pan out. With each passing day I am less and less worried about needing to use some of my savings money this summer. I really need to have a fantastic summer and I'll just worry about getting a decent job in the fall.

It's offical...Arleigh and I are going to New York City with Meera, and Alison for June 6 - 9. We are stupidly giddy.
Thursday, May 22, 2003
Meera has invited Arleigh and I to join her Alison in New York city for a weekend. They are there en route to India (where they'll be spending the summer) So Arleigh and I are so wanting to go, we've already found super cheap flights and we have a place to stay so it'll be a cheap getaway adventure. The slight concern we have is this damn Orange Terrorist Alert. Why can't Bush just tell everyone what their evidence is of an attack and let people decide on thier own what they're going to do. Yes yes, mass panic is not the best thing but I for one would prefer to know what's up.
So tonight I am going to see All the Real Girls. I read reviews for this movie a few months ago and totally forgot about it so am quite pleased it's fallen back in my lap. I'll report back tomorrow how it is.

I got an email from my academic advisor informing me that my psych average has dropped to 74%. You need a 75% for honours psychology. This isn't too big a deal because I have already taken all the courses I need to have honours standing to be enrolled in. It just means that once graduation time rolls around (in December) I need my average boosted. To do this, I need to get 80% on all 3 summer courses I am taking. I am only taking these 3 courses so it shouldn't be too bad and I am only going to work 10 hours a week (dropping the Cadbury job and saying no to Clarica) plus I'm not donning. This does mean I am going to be in the red financially but I think I need to put school first for once. Although this won't stop be from the summer trips I have planned. Hello VISA.
And may duck faced Jen Linley rest in peace.

I don't understand where the time is going. I only have 5 hours of class a week, and only work 10 hours a week yet my days have kept me busy busy. My employment life has been a little crazy. It went as follows:
Tuesday: got a call to go in for an interview at Cadbury store in St Jacobs Outlet Mall
Wednesday: had my interview, that went mildly well. Later that day, I was offered the job
Thursday: Go in for taste testing, when I got home, I emailed my old manager at Clarica as I'd much rather work there this summer due to the convience factor
Friday: get an email from Clarica manager, she is now a big kahuna there and offered a special spot for me with the latest round of new hires, asked me if I could make it in for training Monday morning at 8:30. I called her and explained I still have 5 hours of class during the days and can't do full time. She's going to take to the scehudler on Monday and see if they can work something out for me to go back part-time.
Saturday: First offical training day at Cadbury.
The thing is we have a Cadbury staff meeting followed by a dinner tomorrow, and I won't have heard back from Clarica yet. If Clarica has a position for me, I'll drop Cadbury's. I just feel bad getting a free dinner (at Kelsey's) and leaving them so soon.

There doesn't seem to be alot of choices for interesting courses this summer. I only need to take 3 courses but that even seems to be a struggle to find. Today I attended 2 classes, both of which I will end up dropping. As well I am trying my best to balance class hours so that I have maximum flexibility for when I apply to jobs. I usually get jobs simply because I was available when they needed to fill a gap.
So I pretty much have my room set up, I just need to get a throw rug to help cover space and to make my room look better. We're getting free cable, which is terrific, espically because we're getting all the channels! This means I am still able to get caught up on the happenings of Dawson's Creek, in order to prepare for the big finale. Watching many episodes back-to-back though really shows the weaknesses of a show. For example, the whole Joey/Dawson love affair, it's being way overdone but I don't know if I would have thought so had I been watching it from week to week.

It's hard when you miss an episode of Survivor to try and avoid finding out who got voted off. Even if people know you are awaiting to watch your precious taped episode, they will still make random comments without directly saying who was voted off. For someone like me, who overthinks Survivor, I read too much into various innocent comments. For example, tonight a guy I just met said "I was so happy to finally have the person I wanted gone to be voted off." Well, even though I don't know anything about this guy besides his odd name and his taste in women, I already am trying to analyze his personality to determine who he wanted voted out. Please roll your eyes now and sigh under your breath.

So moving is far from fun. I have no idea how I have accumalted so much crap, nor do I know where it's going to be stored. Shelly and Maria have thier rooms pretty much set up, I think Sharon does too. Currently all my stuff is sitting in the living room. We finished getting everything into the house by 8pm and then I had to return the van and get to work for 9. At work, I fell asleep. Which I guess really isn't that bad but it just goes to show how dead it was. I am still searching for another part-time gig if anyone knows of anything (and I mean anything).
Thursday, May 01, 2003
I have never really done a big move before. I got to skip out on the biggest one in 2nd year as I was still living it the van, so my parents drove everything up and by the time I got there, all the housemates had the common areas looked lived in. I don't consider moving into residence an offical move because you don't need much besides clothes and basic personal items.
I current sit in my suite, packed full of crap. I am trying to get as much done before Sharon arrives and we start the move. I have some good music going, the weather is sunny and great. This is a perfect day to move. WIth this move, I can feel a fresh start around the corner. I wouldn't say I am over-zealous to be moving but I definately have good feelings about this. Moving my bed and going to get the couches we bought is going to be a huge pain. We won't have internet for awhile at the new place, which I actually am looking forward to (despite I need it to job-hunt).
Goodbye to North 6 and the latest chapter.
