The women are kicking ass with Donald Trump on The Apprentice. The men really need to win soon because some of the ladies are far worse than some of the guys and they should go first.
In other news, Marlena appears to be the serial killer on Days and I am jealous of Book Blog as they have quite the cool book club, and they've already beat us to two of our books on our book club - but I guess that means our book club is on a good track.

Yesterday we rented 3 movies to help make it through the snow day. The first was White Oleandar, which Andréa and I really liked. It really hammered home the idea of how selfless you have to be to be a parent, well I suppose some would argue a good parent but I think to be a parent in general. The second movie on the slate was Monsters, INC. Cute movie, wished I had seen it before Nemo and I might have liked it better than I did. I was very distracted by the voices, knowing it was Billy Crystal and John Goodman. The final movie was Once Upon a Time in Mexico. We need someone to explain this movie to us. Is it a sequel? What's with the dead Selma Hayek flashbacks? I was so confused by the whole movie I almost question if I feel asleep during it and missed a critical element.

I made good use of my snow day, I finally got to watch Days of Our Lives and see for myself what is happening with this serial killer. At first I was concerned that so many somewhat major characters were getting killed off but then I realized it's just a soap opera - the writers always bring back the dead!

This weekend I got another small tiny taste of what city living could be like. I stayed at my friend Catherine's place in High Park. Very nice apartment in a very nice little homey village where bakerys and cafes were kings.
Friday night we ventured off to Tango/Crews in order to find some lesbians for Catherine. Initally, we felt weird just going with each other as we didn't want people to think we were a couple, nor did we want to leave each other while one ran to the bathroom. But it turned out to be a super fun night, thanks to Catherines great Jolly Rancher drink and my pushing her to talk to girls in the bar. One girl asked her to dance but Catherine decided to tell her that we were just leaving instead. However we just went downstairs where we ran into toque boy from August (only now he's fauxhawk boy). Funny random connection is that Johnny is best friends with toque boy's roommate and just last week he filled her in on the connection so I am not sure if toque boy was aware of the sitch, but we still flirted - which wasn't smart cause I was ten times more attracted to his other roommate (among other reasons). The night finally ended with Catherine exchanging her number with a straight girl we met in line at Pizza Pizza.
Saturday night we put together a randomly connected group of people, in which all the guys were definately on the higher end of the attractive scale. We had fun despite waiting in line for 45 minutes for Buddys. Unfortunately Dave, Joel and their crew didn't make it in. We all behaved ourselves despite not wanting to. Catherine ended up giving Johnny and I the keys to her apartment as she ran into something that prevented her from coming home with us.
Good but expensive weekend. I wonder if I could afford a summer of living but not working in the city.

I am becoming disillusioned with the real "working" world. When I was originally asked to join Housing and Residence I was under the impression that I would be part-lackey, part-independent worker. For the first few weeks of work, I did feel much more of an independent worker. I was to start up initiatives that would be of benefit to the department. Well these past couple of days have shown me that people view me simply as a lackey. My initiatives are not taken seriously - they are accepted as being worthwhile but when I put forth the effort I do not receive any help from anywhere else. People seem more worried about what their own specific duties are and don't make the effort to concern themselves with anything new. This job is definitely giving me lots of insight to the type of work I want to be doing as a career though. I guess that's some silver lining. Oh - I should also mention I went to work at 8am, and was there until 9:30pm (with a 1/2 hr lunch and an hour dinner break).

Jelly. My legs but more so my arms are burning and throbbing. Today was Day 1 of swim training. I am mainly taking swimming in hopes of toning up my body and generally to make me feel healthier. It's definately going to be a long road though. I think my swimmingg technique has a lot to be desired and if I could improve my storkes, it would cut down on the work. I never would have thought I would feel my muscles burn while submerged in water. And I never even thought of how thristy I'd get while swimming. Yowza. The best thing is that I didn't feel stupid about how bad I was doing, I felt more stupid for asking how it works to rent a towel.

I was speaking to a very insightful young man the other day who offered up some suggestions as to why I didn’t receive an interview for a job that I desperately wanted. He suggested that perhaps because of all my previous employment with the University, I wouldn’t act in the best interest of the FEDS while organizing Orientation Week. Almost like I’d be a mole or something secretly working for the admin. I certainly hope that is not the reason (although I have yet to determine any other sufficient explanation) as it takes away some of the respect I have for the FEDS.

Do you know what's fun? Being able to call UW directly and say my name to the automated attendant to get my extension. This has been 6 weeks coming. Before when you tried to reach me it said you were being transferred to "Ekaterina Somethingorother." My name is only slightly skewed by the computer generated voice. I am finally a part of the working world!

Wahoo! It has finally happened. The cast for Survivor:All Stars has been annouced. I am not going to make any speculation about the upcoming season because really I think anything can happen.
I'm also not going to any sites related to spoiling Survivor (although I have already heard ONE thing). This will be hard to do, espically since I won't be able to take part in my online Survivor game but I can survive, maybe I'll just run my own contest.
Regardless, there will be a Survivor party at my house on February 1st. Come dressed as your favourite Survivor or in some manner related to Survivor. (It will also be a Superbowl party for anyone who wants to watch that too)

Weekend was good times! Friday night, checked out Starlight. It was very nice. A great change in scenery and it was definately suffiecently busy. I would recommend going maybe once a month for something different than your standard bar (in my case, in place of Bomber).
Saturday was an early day as we headed to Ben's olympics at 2pm. There was an offical torch lighting ceremony in which we lit up zambuca shots. The first event was snow pictionary which involved a water bottle strapped to your crotch filled with warm lemonade. The following event was the biatholon, shooting and skiing. My words can not describe what this event actually was or what it was like watching it. Then we headed home for a quick rest and recoperation before the remainder of the night.
Orginally I was dismayed about a trip to Ren but it turned out to be a blast, due to some super fun last minute attendees (Sharon, her boy Perry, Dre, and roommate Chris) and that of course is in addition to the super fun people we saw at the bar. The music was pretty good, I definately enjoyed a back-to-back playing of Dirrty. We left somewhat early, which was a great idea because it meant actually catching a cab!

Apparently my Friday post jinxed me. I somehow did not get an interview for a job that I should have at least had an interview for. I applied for the position of FEDS Special Events Coordinator. I totally had all the requirements they were looking for on the job posting (expierence with Frosh week as a leader, ability to work with people at all levels within the University, and expierence as an events coordinator).
Does it happen to anyone else that when you verbalize a possibility of something happening, it never happens? I often find that things I talk about with people never materialize. It is those things that I keep to myself that end up panning out usually. I hate that, as I am the kind of person who likes to let people know what's happening with me as opposed to holding my cards close.

This has just turned into the longest day at work and it's only 9:09am

Hi Adam,
Yes, I did receive your resume and it is being considered for the position.
Thanks for taking the time to follow up. People who have been selected for
an interview will hear by the end of today.

Yeah to the last first Bomber Wednesday we'll be celebrating. Good times tonight, even though I am home by midnight, we were there and drinking by 4pm. Sharon came home first and now I am home but Andréa is still partying the night away. I do wish I could have been more of a trooper and laster longer but it was beer I was drinking and the music sucked. Luckily our crew snagged plenty of chairs and almsot engough tables to go with the chairs. Kristy revealed to everyone our past indisgressions, now nether of us stand a chance of picking up again.
Oh - and kudos to Matt and Benny for some stage dancing fun during Crazy in Love and Dirrrrrty. I would also like to apologize to Andréa for following her cutie around hoping he wasn't the same cutie she was checking out. She has better odds with him anyhow I think.

A fun social night was had at Mongolian last night. It was of course martini madness, where I confirmed that banana type martinis are the ones for me. The best is still the one at Jane Bond, which I need to somehow duplicate at home.
Our group occupied the entire back corner of the place, definitely a sizeable chunk. The place itself was packed and only manned by one waiter! And they are down to only ONE martini list.
It was a great night to kick off the final term. The cool thing about this group of friends is how everyone is interconnected through various ways. Makes for more social atmospheres, rather than a group of people coming together and each person only talking to a few others. Hopefully there will be more of the peeps at Bomber on Wednesday. The rumor is to go at 2:30 if you have nothing else to do, and 4:00 for everyone else. I think Matt agreed to save some tables for everyone.

Oh - the house is back together again. Sharon and I both returned on Friday to find the house super-cleaned by Chris. And it certainly was a full house that night, even without Andréa. Sharon had Perry up, I had my reunion with Johnny, and Chris's sister was in town. I introduced "Mystrey of the Abbey" to Sharon, Perry and Johnny and I think I got all but Johnny hooked.
Andréa returned this morning with the ugly ass curtains I made her sew. She also brought me more reading material for in between book club books. I am still working on "The Dive from Clausens Pier" and enjoying it. I used to try and defend the main character in my head but she has gone and done something that just makes me want to despise her. Grrrrrr.
This evening, Andréa and I biked (before the snow) to The Princess to see "The Barbarian Invasions" which we both enjoyed and found ourself with a few tears. Tuesday night I have plans to check out the late show of Meg Ryan's "In the Cut" if anyone is interested.

2003. Do I have any past reflections of last year to share? Not really. It was a really good year and I continue to live a happy life. I am a tad nervous about these next four months because I need to first put together some idea of a life plan and then everyone breaks out of Waterloo at the end of April.
Yeah, these next four months certainly will be interesting but the plan is to take each day at a time.

Happy New Year! Wish I had a fun story to post about a crazy adventure last night, but alas I just stayed in and rented "Down with Love" and "The Italian Job." Both enjoyable! Heading back to Waterloo tommorrow.
